Motion for Onboarding & Loading States

Role: Motion Designer
Focus: UI Motion / Microinteractions
Tools: After Effects, Lottie, Illustrator
This project explores how motion can carry a product experience beyond just the “active” moments. I worked on a set of onboarding animations alongside a series of loading states, to support the new gamefied onboardign process, and bringing life to the not so glamourous parts of the gaming experience. The idea was simple: keep users engaged not only when they’re interacting, but also while they’re waiting.
The onboarding flow was designed to feel playful and immersive, using motion to guide the user through each step on their planetary adventure, where they have to visit a bunch of planets within the galaxy, and collect their welcome rewards on each of them.

Instead of relying heavily on static UI, the animations help communicate progress and enhance the feeling of interactivity and of being playing an actual game.
All animations were exported using Lottie, keeping file sizes small and making them easy to integrate across the app. This also helped maintain consistency between platforms without compromising performance.
Waiting doesn't have to be boring!
Rather than defaulting to generic spinners, we decided to keep the excitement alive even in the least exciting possible moments: Waiting.

The loaders are simple by design, but they help bridging the gap between gaming moments, whilereinforcing the fun and liveliness aspect of the brand. Ultimately, it gives that little bit of extra detail that helps the product and the experience to feel premium.
